The 32nd IAEE SE Classic, held on July 27, was an opportunity for events and exhibitions industry professionals and students aspiring to work in the industry to learn and discuss new trends and challenges in a constantly changing workspace.

IAEE SE Chapter Members recently volunteered at Urban Recipe on June 21.  This team sorted and packed boxes with about 2550 pounds of food which goes out to 8 food co-ops around the area, serving more than 1100 individuals. 

Members of IAEE SE Chapter volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank on May 26th.  Our group sorted 13,750 lbs. of frozen meats which will represent nearly 10,576 meals for people in the central Florida area this Memorial Weekend.  We'd like to thank our sponsor for this event, NurnbergMesse North America.

On Thursday, April 20, I had the pleasure to come to the International Association of Exhibitions and Events April Luncheon at Gas South District’s Convention Center. At the event, I met with Chau Nguyen, assistant director of business operations for The School of Hospitality; Jannelle Johnson, a student at Georgia State University; and Ari Fisher, a student at Georgia State University.

This is an organization like no other. As a student, I have never been so immersed in the business world like I have with IAEE. Georgia State University has one of the only student chapters of IAEE in the world, because of this we have been fortunate enough to be closely intertwined with the southeastern chapter. This past month, nine students were graciously sponsored to attend the lunch and learn at the Georgia International Convention Center.

The IAEE SE Chapter congratulates its following members for being recognized for their efforts on behalf of the industry during IAEE’s Expo! Expo! award ceremony in Louisville, Ky. These honorees were nominated by fellow IAEE members in recognition of their outstanding dedication and service.

The IAEE SE Chapter’s GRITZ Reception at Expo! Expo! in Louisville was great, with 177 members registered! The event was overflowing with people happy to connect and visit with their colleagues and friends in the industry.

The IAEE Southeastern Chapter had a great turnout for the joint Holiday Luncheon with the PCMA Southeast Chapter and MPI Georgia Chapter! The event was held on Dec. 8 at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta and drew almost 300 industry professionals, of which a little over 100 were from the IAEE Southeastern Chapter. The holiday networking luncheon benefited Covenant House, which helps provide shelter to teens and young adults facing homelessness.

The IAEE SE Chapter’s 7th Technology Exchange had a great turnout with 52 industry professionals registered! The event was held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on October 27, and attendees were able to hear and see the latest technological tools and event experience innovations offered in the industry.

IAEE Southeast Chapter would like to say Thank You to the members who participated in the Annual Southeast Community Service project on September 20.  The IAEE Southeast Chapter Volunteer efforts helped pack food boxes with various donations from businesses that went to support 1200 families in the metro area.

 

IAEE Southeastern Chapter held a Meetup at the Hampton Social during CEM week on Wednesday August 31st in Orlando. We had a widely attended and successful event that was open to southeast chapter members, and CEM week attendees. Thank you to CNTV for sponsoring the meetup so that our southeastern members could showcase how great the Orlando area is for business. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

If you were not in Biloxi for the IAEE SE Chapter hosted the 31st SE Classic-themed “Face-To-Face” from July 21-22, you missed an outstanding event! The event started with a meet and greet, sponsored by Fern. Then the program kicked off Thursday with a session called “Wired for Work” by Dee O’Neill, CEO and founder of NeuroCognitive Fitness LLC, where she presented on brain science and awe to harness a brain-healthy workplace.

The SE Chapter hosted a virtual meet-up on May 19 to connect with our members in the industry. The meet-up included colleagues that provided information about themselves. This was followed by a discussion on what getting back to work/office/events looked like to them and how they were maintaining a work/life balance. The meet-up went by very fast with good participation from everyone.

On May 11, several members of the IAEE Southeast Chapter joined Urban Recipe and participated in the Annual Southeast Community Service project.

The IAEE SE Chapter’s April 28 luncheon program featured Carrie Ferenac, Chair of IAEE and Co-Founder and President of CNTV. She provided an update on the state of the industry and trends on the road to recovery.

On April 6, several IAEE SE Chapter board members participated in a “Hospitality Conversations at GSU” event to discuss exhibitions and events with students interested in learning more about the industry.

First Chapter Education Program Starts 2022 Off on a Positive Note
 
The Southeastern Chapter’s first education program of 2022 was held at Zoo Atlanta, with more than 50 people attending. The program featured Coach Bill Curry, who provided his take on the “American Huddle.”

It was great seeing so many IAEE SE Chapter members at Expo! Expo! in Philadelphia! The event was very well attended, with 83 members registered for the SE Chapter’s GRITZ Reception. Everyone was happy to reconnect and visit with their colleagues and friends in the industry, and some of our members brought their a-game for the ugly sweater competition!
