Jenny Melton Foundation

Jenny Melton Foundation

The Jenny Melton Foundation was established in memory of Jenny Melton, the daughter of long-time IAEE SE member, Butch Melton. Jenny, a West Hall High School student in Oakwood, GA, loved school and loved running on the track and cross-country teams, and was in Beta Club and Spanish Club. She was also voted the 2002 Homecoming queen and was expected to be admitted to Duke University.

Tragically, Jenny was killed in a single car accident on her way to school March 19, 2002. Jenny's death dealt a stunning blow to the community of Hall County and brought a community to a stand still for almost 3 days.

Jenny's legacy lives on through the Jenny Melton Foundation. The foundation honors Jenny by working to help others do what she so wanted – to attend college!

Jenny Melton Scholarship Program

The Jenny Melton Scholarship fund was established in 2002 in Jenny’s memory. Three $2,500 scholarships are available to full-time graduating high school seniors at West Hall High School and Flowery Branch High School, and a fourth scholarship is available for children of members of IAEE Southeastern Chapter who are graduating high school seniors. The Foundation has given over fifty $2,500 dollar scholarships since Jenny's accident.

The Jenny Melton Scholarship for IAEE SE members children is now live and will be open until 5:00 on May 15th.   The portal may be accessed by CLICKING HERE or by going to the NGCF website and selecting the Scholarships/Apply tab. You will have to create an account for this process.  The link for the scholarship application will be available from May 1 through May 15, 2021 only.   Carefully follow all instructions.  For more information, go to the North GA Community Foundation website: www.ngcf.org/view-scholarships.
